Gary L. Eubanks was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas, on November 25, 1933. He is married to Elizabeth Eubanks, is the father of three sons and has four grandchildren. He is a Democrat and a Methodist.
Mr. Eubanks graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1951. He attended Little Rock Junior College and Arkansas State Teachers College before receiving his J.D. degree from the University of Arkansas, where he was a member of Phi Alpha Delta. He was admitted to the Arkansas Bar in 1960 and has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. District Court, District of Arkansas.
Mr. Eubanks served in the United States Submarine Service from 1952 to 1954. From 1963 to 1967 he served in the Arkansas House of Representatives. In 1967, he served on the Pulaski County School Board. He is currently active in the Pulaski County, Arkansas and American Bar Associations; Association of Trial Lawyers of America; Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association; American Board of Trial Advocates; and the Southern Trial Lawyers Association.
Mr. Eubanks has been previously selected to appear in the Outstanding Young Men of America, Who’s Who is American Law, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest.
The founder of Gary Eubanks & Associates, he litigates personal injury, nursing home, pharmaceutical and tobacco cases. He has litigated several significant cases in Arkansas. King v. Westlake, 264 Ark. 555, 572 S.W.2d 841( 1978), is a landmark case in regard to the use of video tapes in trial and the scope of voir dire. Bashlin v. Smith, 277 Ark. 406, 643 S.W.2d 526 (`1982), is a landmark case in products liability. Aetna v. Broadway Arms, 281 Ark. 128, 664 S.W.2d 463 (1984), is a landmark case in bad faith litigation.
On April 12, 2001, Mr. Eubanks received the largest punitive damages verdict in the state to date. The Hempstead County verdict in Bowes v. Salas,
et al was for $12,500,000 in punitive damages.
Mr. Eubanks’ has actively promoted the legal profession by giving his time to speak at numerous conventions, including:
1979 The Annual State Convention of the Mississippi Trial Lawyers Association, on the subject of Voir Dire;
1984 The Annual Convention of the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association on the subject of bad faith;
1989 Professional Education Systems, on the subject of Evaluation and Settlement from the Plaintiff’s Perspective;
